About this collection

Baril Profile B46

Profile is a shower-led suite in the Baril range, and it is the one that makes the wall-or-ceiling decision explicit: almost every kit is offered twice, once mounted on the wall and once on the ceiling, in the same design. That is unusually clear labelling for this category, and it saves the most common ordering mistake in a shower renovation.

Wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted

This is decided at rough-in, before the wall or ceiling closes, and reversing it later means opening one of them.

Ceiling-mounted drops the rain head directly overhead. It is the look most people have in mind, it rains straight down rather than at an angle, and it needs the supply run through the ceiling.

Wall-mounted comes off the wall on an arm. Simpler and cheaper to rough in, easier to retrofit, and the spray angles toward you — which some people prefer, because you can stand out of it.

In the codes, TRR- and PRR- are the ceiling versions; TRO- and PRO- are wall.

The valve behind the trim

Profile is offered in pressure-balance, thermostatic, and Baril's combined thermostatic pressure-balanced valves with one-, two- and three-way diverters. Pressure-balance suits a single head. Thermostatic holds a set temperature and runs several outlets at once. The combined valve does both and carries the diverter, which is what the larger Profile kits use.

Complete kit or trim only

Most of the Profile range we carry is trim — correct when the valve is already in the wall, wrong for new construction. Complete kits including the valve body carry the PRO- and PRR- prefixes. See Shower Rough-In Valves, or send us the model number and we will confirm which valve body your plumber needs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a ceiling-mounted rain head better?
Not better, different. It rains straight down, which is what most people picture, but you cannot easily step out of the spray and it is much harder to install or change later.

How do I tell the two versions apart in the model number?
TRR and PRR are ceiling; TRO and PRO are wall. The rest of the number stays the same.

Do I need a thermostatic valve?
Only if you are running more than one outlet at once, or you want the water held at an exact temperature. A single head is fine on pressure-balance.

What does B46 mean?
The Profile series code — B46 on faucets, T46 on trims, A46 on accessories.
