• Depth over width. A deep single bowl takes a full bucket under the tap without tipping it. This is the single most useful property of a utility sink.
• Material. Stainless steel is light, repairable and shrugs off solvents. Composite hides marks well. Either beats a coated finish that chips the first time something heavy lands in it.
• Faucet height and spout reach. A tall spout with a pull-down or pull-out spray is worth more here than in a kitchen, because you are filling and rinsing awkward objects rather than plates. See kitchen faucets.
• Mounting. If the laundry has a countertop, the same rules apply as in a kitchen: undermount for a solid surface, drop-in on laminate.
