A wall-mounted sink needs blocking inside the wall. The bracket has to fasten into solid backing, not drywall alone, and the drain and supplies come through the wall at a height set by the sink. Both have to be right before the wall is closed and tiled, so this is a decision for the framing stage.

Decide the finished rim height at the same time — around 32 to 34 inches is typical, but a wall-mounted sink lets you set it to suit the household, which is part of the appeal.

Can a wall-mounted sink go on any wall?
No. It needs solid blocking inside the wall for the bracket to fasten into, and the supplies and drain have to be positioned for that specific sink. Plan it before the wall is closed.

How do you hide the plumbing?
Either a shroud that covers the trap, or a bottle trap chosen in a finish you are content to see. Many people leave it exposed deliberately.

What height should it be installed at?
Around 32 to 34 inches to the rim is typical, but the point of a wall-mounted sink is that you can set the height to suit the people using it.
