The carrier is the steel frame that bolts to the floor and studs and takes the weight of the fixture and whoever sits on it; the tank sits inside it, behind the finished wall. Framing depth decides the model — a 2x6 carrier will not fit a 2x4 wall, and the slim 2x4 versions are a different part number. Confirm your wall depth first.
