Bathroom Sinks
The sink decides the vanity, the faucet and often the countertop, so it is worth settling before anything else in the room. Eunoia carries bathroom sinks from Vogt, Grohe, Kohler, Rohl, Duravit, TOTO and Cheviot, in every mounting format below.
Six ways a sink can sit
- Undermount — fixed beneath the counter, so you wipe water straight in and there is no rim to trap grime. Needs a solid countertop with a sealed edge: stone, quartz or solid surface, not laminate.
- Vessel — sits on top of the counter like a bowl. The most decorative option, and the one that changes the faucet: you need a taller vessel faucet to clear the rim, and a lower vanity so the finished height still works.
- Drop-in — dropped through a cutout with the rim resting on the counter. The most forgiving to install and the only realistic option on laminate.
- Wall-mounted — no vanity at all. Frees the floor visually and makes a small powder room feel larger, but leaves the plumbing exposed unless you add a shroud, and gives you no storage.
- Pedestal — wall-mounted with a column hiding the trap. The traditional powder-room answer.
- Console — supported on legs, usually metal. Open underneath like a pedestal, but with a wider deck to actually put things on.
Get the sequence right
Two things go wrong most often, and both are about ordering:
Undermount sinks are templated to the counter, so the sink has to be chosen before the countertop is fabricated — your fabricator wants the physical sink in hand. Choosing the counter first, then the sink, is backwards.
Vessel sinks change the faucet and the vanity height. A bowl sitting 6" proud of the counter on a standard 36" vanity puts the rim uncomfortably high. Plan the vanity around the bowl, not the other way round.
Faucet holes
Check how the sink is drilled before you fall for a faucet. One hole means a single hole faucet; three at 4" is centerset; 8" or wider is widespread. Many undermount and vessel sinks have no holes at all, because the faucet goes through the counter or the wall.

Frequently asked questions
Which bathroom sink is easiest to install?
Drop-in. It sits in a cutout with the rim supported by the counter, needs no special countertop edge, and is the only practical option on laminate.
Do I need a special faucet for a vessel sink?
Yes. Vessel faucets are taller so the spout clears the bowl rim. A standard faucet will either splash or fail to reach over the edge.
Can I put an undermount sink in a laminate countertop?
Generally no. The cut edge exposes the particleboard core, which swells when it gets wet. Undermount needs stone, quartz or solid surface.
Do bathroom sinks come with faucet holes?
It varies. Many undermount and vessel sinks have none, because the faucet mounts through the counter or the wall. Check the specification before choosing a faucet.
