A drop-in sits in a cut-out with its rim resting on the countertop, so the countertop carries the weight and no under-support is needed. That makes it the practical choice for laminate, and the simplest swap in an existing kitchen: if the new sink's rim is at least as large as the old cut-out, the job is a drop-and-seal.

Several Vogt models here are dual-mount, meaning they can be installed drop-in now and undermounted later if you change countertops.
