About this collection

Freestanding bathtubs from Maax, Mirolin, Kodaen and Cheviot — acrylic soaking tubs and Cheviot's cast iron Master Collection, in oval and rectangular shapes from roughly 58 to 68 inches.

A freestanding tub sits on the floor unattached to any wall, so it can go anywhere the plumbing reaches. That freedom is the point, and it is also the constraint: the drain has to come up through the floor in exactly the right spot, and the filler is usually floor-mounted or wall-mounted rather than deck-mounted. Choose the tub and the filler together, and set the rough-in before the subfloor is closed.

Acrylic is lighter, warmer to the touch and easier to get up a staircase. Cast iron holds heat far longer and feels solid underfoot, but a 68" cast iron tub is heavy enough that the floor structure is worth checking — a conversation to have with your contractor before ordering, not after delivery.
