Riobel Riu

Riu is one of the two largest Riobel collections and the one with the most choices inside it. Nearly every piece is offered with either a plain or a knurled handle, and several come with a square or a round spout and plate — so the same collection can read minimal or textured depending on which you pick.

That flexibility is why Riu turns up in so many contemporary bathrooms. It is the least committal of Riobel's contemporary lines.

What is in the collection
Plain or knurled — pick once

Knurled handles have a fine machined cross-hatch on the grip. Plain handles are smooth. It is purely visual and tactile, and both cost and function are the same, but it is worth choosing deliberately: a knurled shower handle beside a plain faucet handle in the same room reads as a mistake rather than a mix.

The spout and plate codes follow the same logic — SQ is a square spout, RD round, TQ a square plate, TM a round plate.

Which valve each Riu trim needs
  • The 1/2" pressure balance trim takes an R51 — one shower head.
  • The up-to-3-functions trim takes an R23 — a head plus a handheld.
  • The up-to-5-functions trim takes an R45 — body sprays or a larger system.
  • Kits numbered 2745, 3545 and 446 ship with the correct rough-in included.

Finishes

Riu is offered in Chrome (C), Polished Nickel (PN), Brushed Nickel (BN), Stainless Steel (SS) and Black (BK) — the broadest finish range of any Riobel collection. Chrome, black and the PVD finishes carry the limited lifetime warranty.

Frequently asked questions

What does knurled mean on a Riobel handle?
A fine machined cross-hatch texture on the grip. It is a visual and tactile choice only — the valve and the function are identical to the plain version.

What is the difference between RU08L and RUSQ08?
The spout. RU08L is the C-spout widespread; RUSQ08 is the squared U-spout version of the same faucet.

Do the Riu shower kits include the valve?
Kits described as “with rough-in valve” do. Kits described as “trim only” are the visible parts and need the matching rough-in ordered separately.

Does Riu have matching towel bars?
Not in the accessory range. For a bathroom finished in one design including accessories, look at Arca, Authentica, Zendo, Paradox or Momenti.
